"We had enough options at home but I would prefer not providing the option in general. Though none of us were exactly heavy drinkers."
Still, if it wasn't needed then they didn't need to carry it. That was Gladio's point of view and Ignis shared it. Honestly, having to carry too much was a burden as it was and it wasn't as if at the beginning of their journey Noctis was all that engaged with carrying luggage.
No offense to Noctis. He had quite a bit of growth over time. Ignis had to admit to being impressed with him currently.
"I have used alcohol in recipes before though. Perhaps I can figure out how to distill my own while I am here, if they don't sell much within the stores."
"I mean. Noct managed to get and send two bottles of sake to me. Really strong stuff too...shit I'm pretty sure that was months ago and I still have a full bottle of it. So it- alcohol is around, I just haven't been seeking it out to cook with yet. Have you tried sake before?"
It was such a small thing but a really interesting one; what sort of foods did they have in their world that he hadn't had before. Granted Ash wasn't a gourmet or could claim to have tried food from every corner of his world, it was still an interesting thought.
Ignis had never allowed himself to drink. It would have clouded his mind too much for the work that he needed to do. So he had cooked with alcohol but was, quite literally, the designated driver.
Until he was blinded that was. Then he had different reasons to stay sober.
"If you would like,I can make an attempt to distill something. You would be welcome to test it."
"You don't have to go that far. Especially if you're teetotal." He shrugged. He wasn't that big on drinking. He'd do it sometimes but he mostly drank with friends and, if asked what he fancied doing for an evening, he'd rather go for a run or hang out.
"I'd be more interested in trying some of the recipes you have that I won't have tried before."
Ignis raises his brow at Ash. He was going to have to learn almost an entirely new language to talk with Ash it seemed. Eventually, he would have to sit the man down and really figure out the lingo.
"I can certainly make some of them for you at some point in the future."
"Teetotal means a person who doesn't drink at all. So like, how 'chaste' means someone never has sex." He raised a brow back at Ignis, folding his arms even if he couldn't see his gestures. That wasn't even an Irish word! But, even English varied around the world. Just look at American English and some of their slang.
"But yeah, I'd be down for that. Can't promise it'll be five star dining, but me and my Pokemon aren't dead yet so it won't be deadly at least."
If it was slang then Ignis most likely didn't know it. Not unless it was specific to his world. He wasn't fond of slang. There was plenty of words in their language to utilize without needing to resort to making words up.
"I.. will be sure to not make anything that may kill you. I have cooked since I was young, and as of yet no one has died."

He crosses his legs neatly.
"On accident, anyway."
